The Thad Cochran Marine Aquaculture Center is an advanced research unit housed at The University of Southern Mississippi. They are centrally located in the northern Gulf of Mexico in Ocean Springs, Mississippi at the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory’s Cedar Point research site. Their research focuses on alleviating the bottlenecks that constrain the production of marine species. They work with industry, government, and non-profit organizations to advance sustainable aquaculture on land and in coastal and marine environments.

MDM Pumps was engaged in the design and development phase of the project to assist facility staff in performing system audits to identify and select the optimum pumps for their new LSS and water treatment systems. The end result was the implementation of Advance and Genesys pumps combined with Genesys Basket Strainers, all of which have remained in continuous operation to this day.
